The CARS EDUCATION Curriculum
threads a safe, legal and responsible
Attitude through the driving Skills and
Knowledge components of the course
(the ASK approach). Activities are
student centred promoting a variety of
decision-making, group activities that
stress a positive driving attitude. There
are 3 specific activities that involve the
driver's family and accompanying driver.
CARS Education Curriculum uses these
four major MTO themes: safety and
risk; the benefits of social responsibility;
the benefits of environmental changes;
and self-awareness of personal values,
attitudes and motives related to driving
actions. The new 'Cooperative Driver'
concept is introduced The entire
curriculum is referenced to the Ontario
Driver's Handbook; so each student is
required to have a copy for use during
the course. It is also a valuable
resourse for use in preparing for the G1
and G2 Exit road tests.
